Dedication
"...I realised that I did the best I could, and I built my swimming future from that experience. As I grew older, I became more aware that swimming is just one part of the equation in my life. Each time I get in the water to race, it's a new experience. I come away from each race with something positive."
I stumbled upon Trischa's story when I was scrolling through the people who impacted on the history of the Paralympic Games. I was instantly inspired by the amount of medals she won at the games but what was even more inspirational was the story behind the life she lives everyday. She is truly inspirational in her ability to bounce back and be so resilient with any situation that challenges her. What truly inspired me was her undeniable dedication and love for her sport. Through the many tough times in her swimming career, she continued to push herself in any way she could. Whether it would be swimming in the pool for endless hours on end, to her surgery involving a synthetic iris implant in-order to improve her eyesight. Even when she was out of the water due to her surgery, she was always focused on one thing- getting back in the water and training. Trischa took each part of her day as it came to her, and she built upon it. She strived to achieve her best in "each equation" of her life, whether it was swimming or life outside of it.
Athens was Trischa Zorn's final victory lap in the Paralympics. After she returned home from Athens, swimming will still be a big part of her life, but the priorities will shift toward professional and career goals. Trischa Zorn routine still participates in Masters swimming, but she enjoys the freedom she has gain by dropping the heavy commitment to swimming. With the positive traits she has developed through swimming-dedication, determination and discipline-it has been no surprise that Trischa Zorn has risen to the top.
"One of my goals is to maintain a healthy lifestyle and continue swimming with the great group of people involved with Indy SwimFit. I also hope to give back to the sport of swimming, either through coaching or mentoring other swimmers, be it age-groupers or Masters swimmers."
